PRE-PRODUCTION:

Pre-production consisted of studying the script from begining to end in every detail. Each department met with the director and writer to make sure their department explored both the writer and director's vision for the film.

This process is one of my favorites because you can allow your imagination to bring the words on the script to life. As director, it was my job to communicate vision of Silver to Art, sound, camera, casting and editing departments.

This phase of production also brought script revisions, location scouting, casting calls and rehearsing with the actors.

PRODUCTION:

We shot Silver in two weekend shoots each from Friday to Sunday. Life on a production set is incredibly rushed, busy and fast paced. Each moment is race against the sun going down. Though production always comes with its challenges, seeing Silver come to life was such an amazing experience especially since there were some obsticles that almost prevented the film from moving forward.

The locations that we were able to find were beautiful. From the forest, to the tent all the way to our school house, had to look like it was from the era of the 1950's in the south. This was certianly a difficult task to accomplish in Souther California on a student film budget, but our team made it happen in Julian, California.

POST-PRODUCTION & PREMIERE:

Like production, post-production is a continued race against time. This phase of post-production held the challenges of collecting the best takes and footage that we shot in production. Given certain foundations of filmmaking, a scene may not work due to dialogue audio, background distractions or actor blocking. Thus, it is the challenge of the editor to work around these issues and create the best version of the film possible. Our post-production team consiting of two editors, colorist, composer, and multiple sound supivisors did their best to make Silver shine on to the screen.

Our premiere was held on May 17th, 2013 in Whittier. Please check the                    to see how Silver is doing in upcoming Film Festivals!
