This disarming short story, written by Julia Rothenbuhler and directed by Tiffany Castro, is about two children who are searching for love and acceptance each within their separate worlds of oppression during the Civil Rights era. Henry is a little 9 year old white boy who is afraid to speak of the abuses that he endures while he is at home. One day, after suffering through yet another episode, he runs to his place of sanctuary, a small put together fort, to discover a surprise. Upon his arrival, he discovers a little black girl already playing in his fort. The two children are both taken a back and nervous to both see each other. After noticing that they’re both victims of hardship, they become friends.
